Why see a pediatric dentist?
Pediatric dentists are specifically trained and equipped to provide dental care for children, including those with special needs. They have an in-depth understanding of child development, behavior management techniques, and the latest technologies for diagnosing and treating dental problems in children. Pediatric dentists also provide preventive care, including fluoride treatments and dental sealants, which can help prevent future dental problems. By seeing a pediatric dentist, children receive specialized care tailored to their unique needs, ensuring they receive the best possible oral health care.
There are several advantages to seeing a pediatric dentist versus a general dentist for children's oral health. Click on the headers below to learn more about how OPD works with your children to make their experience outstanding, every time.

specialized training
Our doctor at OPD has over 16 years of experience as a pediatric dentist working with children. Above and beyond dental school, our doctor pursued an extra 4 years of training in pediatric dentistry and nutrition research, and continues to attend CE courses annually to make sure we are providing the best care with the most up to date information.
child friendly space
For as long as we can tell, the part that every child remembers about visiting the dentist is the prize and sticker at the end of the visit. But what about child friendly decor, TVs on the ceiling, and child-friendly toothpaste flavors like Happy Hippo Cake and Growlin Grape? Yep, we've got those too. Come check out our child friendly amenities that'll help put your child at ease. Whether they're getting their teeth brushed, or chasing away cavity bugs, you'll find that at the center of all of our kid-friendly amenities is an experienced and professional dental team focused on creating an amazing experience for your child from start to finish, every time.
behavior management
One of the most important roles that our team has is to help a child have a good experience, especially if they may be anxious or nervous about visiting the dentist. Unlike adult visits to the dentist, children need us to work within a given timeframe (usually under 60 minutes) to make sure that we're not asking them to do something that fall outside of their attention span. From the Tell-Show-Do technique that's designed to help your child understand and anticipate what will happen during a dental visit, to the use of nitrous oxide or other medications to make sure there are no pinchies or ouchies, Our team is prepared to help your child have an amazing experience, whether it's their first visit, or a return trip.
Modern pediatric dentistry has all the bells and whistles to help make your child feel at ease by creating a safe, comfortable and fun space for your child to get their teeth looked at. Nitrous oxide, super "orajel" topical and our child-friendly team can now make pinches, tears and a "deal with it" attitude a thing of the past.
And of course, parents are always able to be with their children during any treatment or visit.
